A BOXING club which was set up to keep youngsters off the streets and out of trouble in Leytonstone is to expand due to its growing success.
Box4Life was established in 2009 by members of the South Leytonstone Area Development Association (SLADA) to help tackle gang culture in the area.
The club, which caters for boys and girls aged between eight and 16, meets every Monday evening at Cann Hall Baptist Church, but will now run a second lot of sessions every Friday at Cathall Leisure Centre.
Director Mark Rule said: “I’m over the moon at how things have gone.
“We set it up just as a little adventure but it’s been going so well.
“We’re doing the new sessions partly because of demand but also because we want to reach out to the kids in Cathall. We do get some of them coming here but a lot won’t travel to Cann Hall because of the postcode war between gangs.
“Our ultimate aim though is to have a neutral venue between the two where they can all come together.”
